Livv Housing’s corporate summer festival conference

In June 2024, we transformed the iconic Camp and Furnace into a festival-themed conference for over 500 of Livv Housing’s team. This iconic event featured multiple stages, giant props, experimental zones, fairground games, delicious street food stalls, and more.

Livv Housing is an independent housing association, dedicated to providing great homes, achieving positive impact, and creating flourishing communities across Liverpool and the North West.

Livv Housing’s values emphasise working cohesively to deliver better customer outcomes. Every year, Livv Housing brings its team together to celebrate achievements and align goals.

Saving Grace Events were brought on board to ensure that 2024’s conference communicated key business objectives in a fun, memorable, and engaging way.

The brief: Interactive learning

Livv Housing wanted their conference to be anything but boring, so we were tasked with creating a festival-themed event. The conference aimed to engage team members with key business objectives, through interactive activities. Another key objective was to bring together different business departments, from customer service teams to coordinators.

Launching ‘Livv Fest’

Camp and Furnace is known for being a quirky and exciting destination for events, live music, and nightlife in Liverpool. Running from 10am – 4pm, ‘Livv Fest’ was filled with a lineup of fun and engaging sessions, focussed on ‘the customer’.

We kicked off the event with a welcome talk from CEO Léann Hearne, before dividing guests into two groups. One-half stayed in the ‘Camp’ area, where they enjoyed a fully bespoke quiz about the company and its achievements in the past year. This interactive quiz also included on-stage dance-offs and games of heads and tails.

Over in  ‘Furnace’, we gave guests three different breakout areas to choose from. One area contained exhibition stalls, based on key company messages, with engaging fairground-style games.

Another breakout space contained an area of directors’ chairs, from which event attendees watched a performance by AFTA Thought. This drama-based workplace training explored the difference between good and bad customer service.

The final area contained iPads on stands, which asked team members about their experience working for Livv Housing. This went hand in hand with their employee engagement survey, which was launched only a few weeks after the conference

In between sessions, street food stalls offered an authentic festival lunch experience of salt and pepper chicken, macaroni cheese, and chilli. Guests enjoyed their food outside, in the sunshine.

At the end of the day, we turned around the ‘Camp’ space for an awards ceremony. Hosted by Hits Radio’s Leanne Campbell, a series of awards were handed out to reinforce employee reward and recognition. Guests then let their hair down at an after-party.

Creating visual impact

We visually brought Livv Housing’s branding and brand colours to life with a branded festival entranceway, branded stage backdrops, and a giant branded deckchair. We brought a burst of colour to the venue with bunting and a festoon.

Festival highlights

It was great to see the client’s reaction to the venue when the build was complete, because they were delighted with the setup. It was also rewarding to watch the employees’ reactions when they walked in, as it was completely different to what they had had last year.

What makes a standout conference?

A standout conference is different to a ‘normal’ conference, with creative and interactive elements that engage event attendees. Presenting company information doesn’t have to be boring. In fact, it’s more likely to make an impact when done in a way that allows teams to have fun.
